Bodegas Matriarcado was born from the idea of producing wines of the highest quality, from non-traditional origins for the Latin American markets, which favour the generation of unique experiences.
Wine is a millenary beverage, a historical participant of significant events in great human societies, which has become a symbol of traditions that have persisted to the present day. Wine has a transcendental identity, a function within societies and even in the spiritual life of individuals.
Our wine is conceptualised as a channel for our consumers, providing them with those spaces of connection, which allow them to fortify their personal relationships with very high quality products.
The Bodegas Matriarcado brand honours the energy and instinct of people to nurture and protect the ones we love. This concept captures the idea of facilitating spaces of connection that allow people to share, with family, friends and even their own feelings. As in a matriarchy, our interest is for individuals to open up those spaces of growth and care for the essential and delicate.

Wines from Australia
We had had a first experience of working in rootcrops and tubers exports, as a family venture, during 2019. With the COVID-19 pandemic, our project came to a complete standstill, as did so many economic activities. Only the strongest and most focused were able to resist.
One thing was clear, however, and that was that we had to start up again. The business relationships we had built up in that project gave us the confidence that we could realise a project underpinned by our values. It was a confirmation that it was possible to find people and companies that shared them.
In a family conversation, a juncture in Australia-China relations was identified that put us on the stage of a very well-established wine industry.
After reviewing the supply within the Costa Rican market, we found that there was an opportunity if we could source a quality product.
And we did!
